• Years Yet Yesterday at The University of Nottingham, UK, April 28th

I’ll be speaking about my Years Yet Yesterday drawing series at the 24th Annual Lavender Languages and Linguistics Conference in Nottingham on Friday, April 28, 2017. My talk will center around the research and studio methodologies I used to translate Larry Kramer’s speech, The Tragedy of Today’s Gays, into a 24-panel drawing series, which also served as a decade-long tribute to Kramer’s words. The talk is in anticipation of Queering Translation, Translating the Queer (Routledge, 2018), a queer-translation textbook in which I contributed a case-study chapter about the series.

I—Infecting Infected Intertwined, India ink pen on Stonehenge 90lb paper, 22 x 15 inches, words extracted from Larry Kramer's speech, The Tragedy of Today's Gays, from an abecedary series of 24 drawings.
